Caregiver Burnout: An Ignored Epidemic
Caregiver burnout is not silent—it is ignored. Parents raising children with severe to profound disabilities are screaming for help, yet the world looks away. We are suffocating under medical needs, sleepless nights, and decades of caregiving without breaks or support. Unlike those who care for elderly parents temporarily, this is a lifelong commitment that begins in our twenties or thirties and never ends. And disability can happen to anyone, at any time. Until society chooses to listen and act, families like mine will continue to fracture under impossible expectations.
A Mother’s Plea
Doctor’s see my son. but they don’t see him. They dismiss his symptoms, cover them with prescriptions, and call it care. My plea is simple: he deserves more than survivival - he deserves his life back.
