Modern Eugenics:

Ignoring the Lives of Adults with Disabilities

Our mission begins with Josh.

For over 2 years, he has been dismissed, overmedicated, and refused the care he desperately needs. His seizures have increased, his health has declined, and I’ve watched my son disappear in front of me — not because of his disability, but because of a medical system that does not see his life as worthy.

When caring for Josh, he has been outright denied proper care. Doctors have said, “People with disabilities didn’t use to live this long,” using that as an excuse to avoid responsibility. Hospital staff have told me, “Don’t bring him back here.” I’ve been told, “We won’t handle his case because we don’t know about 1p36 deletion syndrome.” The adult side of medicine refuses accountability, claiming his needs are pediatric, while the pediatric side abandons him because he is an adult.

This is not just Josh’s story. Across the United States, adults with disabilities are being ignored, denied treatment, and stripped of their rights to quality medical care and support. Hospitals refuse them. Waiver programs fail them. The protections and laws that exist for children often vanish the moment they turn 21. Families are left to fight alone while their loved ones suffer.

This is modern eugenics — not in name, but in practice. By neglect, dismissal, and systemic refusal, society is quietly deciding that the lives of adults with disabilities do not matter.

Our mission is to change that.
To demand care, dignity, and protection for Josh — and for every adult with disabilities. To unite families, advocates, and communities in exposing the injustice and fighting for systemic change. Because their lives matter. Josh’s life matters. And together, we will not allow them to be ignored.
